Appointment Of Commissioner Of Police

(1) The Governor-General may appoint a fit and proper person to be the Commissioner of Police for a term of not more than 2 [alternatives: 3 and 5] years

(8) For the avoidance of doubt, any person who holds the office of constable when appointed or reappointed as Commissioner continues to hold that office following his or her appointment or reappointment, until such time as the office may be legally discharged

(9) The Commissioner may not be before the courts for any criminal offences [alternative: for any serious offences] and must act in the best interests of justice and the reputation of the New Zealand Police

(10) If the Commissioner is charged with any crime he/she will have their appointment suspended and a temporary replacement will be appointed as per section (...)

(11) If the Commissioner is found guilty of any crime he/she will have their appointment terminated immediately, without renumeration
